ReSEL was invited as a speaker at the event “Energy Communities, Energy at the hands of citizens”, which took place in Athens, April 18th, 2019, and was organized by the National Technical University of Athens, in collaboration with the Energy Cooperative ELECTRA.
Professor Theocharis Tsoutsos, director of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab, shared the valuable experience gained from the Horizon 2020 RESCOOP PLUS project, presenting results related to the impacts assessment of energy efficiency interventions adopted by the EU REScoops.
The workshop aimed to highlight Energy Communities as an important tool towards a democratic and decentralized sustainable energy system which focuses on the citizens’ and local authorities’ actions. Several stakeholders and scientists from the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving, Consignment Deposits and Loans Fund, Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator, Heinrich Böll Foundation Greece and Development Agency of Karditsa, participated in order to discuss sustainable models for the establishment of Energy Communities in Greece, taking in consideration available funding tools, technological possibilities/barriers and their experience from related projects.
